A new exciting summer festival named Féile Earthcore was launched in Gaoth Dobhair Friday night last. The Festival will run over three days from Friday July 15th to Sunday July 17th 2011. There are a number of events over the weekend from the three nightly open air family concerts to a cultural food and craft day and a country music evening.

The festival will be held on the grounds of the Seaview hotel and it is anticipated a large turnout for the various events. At the launch the festival line up was revealed which includes three nightly open air concerts. Friday 15th July there will be a Black Eyed Peaz tribute act live in concert along with various supporting acts. Saturday afternoon the festival will host a cultural day which will comprise of a food and crafts market and live traditional music courteous of local talented group ‘An Crannog’.

Saturday night will see Irish music sensation ‘MUNDY’ live with his band for a live open air concert. Sunday afternoon the festival will host a country music evening with Hugo and Off the Cuff, this event will be free of charge. Sunday night the closing concert will be performed by ‘the Goats Don’t shave’. This concert is one of only a handful of gigs by the band as part of a special reunion tour.

Festival promoters James Boyle and Hugh Sharkey stated their delight at attracting the Goats and Mundy to perform at this festival. ‘The festival is all about providing Gaoth Dobhair with a festival that will help local businesses, attract tourists and help promote local talent in terms of musicians, food and craft producers.’

The festival is very much a family event with all ages welcome each night. Concerts will start at 9pm nightly.Tickets for the festival are now on sale from The Seaview Hotel Bunbeg, Link 2 courtyard shopping centre Letterkenny and Books and Charts Dungloe. Friday Night tickets cost €15, while Saturday and Sunday tickets cost €19.50. a limited number of three day passes are available at €39.50 (Agent fee may apply). Tickets include admission to the official after party in the nightclub after the concerts nightly. The venue has a limited capacity and early purchase of tickets is advised to avoid disappointment.
